- HOUSING ASSISTANCE & HOME SAFETY
Lead Safe Westchester Program
The Lead Safe Westchester (LSW) Program is a federally funded Westchester County initiative that provides FREE lead hazard reduction and qualifying home safety repairs for eligible homes. The program also helps property owners meet Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) housing inspection requirements.
ELIGIBLE IMPROVEMENTS
• Lead paint hazard reduction
• Window and door replacement
• Paint stabilization
• Minor electrical repairs
• Smoke detector installation
• Other qualifying health and safety repairs
ELIGIBILITY
• Homes built before 1978
• Income-qualified households
Priority given to children under age 6 and pregnant women. Applications processed on a first-come, first-served basis.
COST
All inspections, project management, and eligible repairs are provided at no cost to qualifying property owners or tenants.
